Quadruped Model (relative scale)

This is the standard configuration I’ve carefully designed to serve as the foundation for creating all kinds of quadrupeds—whether you're imagining horses, canids, deer, or something entirely your own.

I created this model to be as adaptable as possible. You can use it to sculpt dynamic animal forms, sketch realistic poses, or study motion and anatomy with confidence. It’s been a labor of love to make it versatile enough for both artistic and educational uses.

Let me walk you through some of the details that make this model special:

Thoughtful Proportions

The scale isn’t locked to a traditional ratio like 1/6; instead, I’ve focused on keeping the relationships between body parts—like the head and body—realistic. The heads are carefully sized to reflect the natural proportion of the animals they represent. This gives the models a lifelike feel without sacrificing the flexibility you need to customize them further.

The Most Flexible Spine Yet

This version has an 8-point articulated spine, which is the most flexible design I’ve ever made. It allows for incredibly smooth movement and naturalistic posing, making it easier to capture the energy and fluidity of animal motion.

Versatile Anatomy

The base configuration includes pawed limbs, but here’s the fun part: you can swap them out for hooves, claws, talons, or whatever else you need. These options are available in my 1/6 Pieces section, where you’ll also find other add-ons like wings, longer limbs, and extra tail segments. You can even modify the proportions of your model—shorten the body by omitting mid-sections or go wild with extra spine segments for a unique creation.

Handcrafted in Washington

Every A9 Quadruped is handcrafted right here in Washington, with care and attention to every detail. For me, this is more than just a product—it’s a way to share something I love with people who are just as passionate about creativity, anatomy, and design.

Whether you're a visual artist, animator, educator, or collector, I’ve made this articulated quadruped to be your perfect companion in bringing your ideas to life. I can’t wait to see what you create with

WHAT IS ARMATURE NINE?

Armature Nine (or A9-RIG) is a revolutionary collection of articulated products. They were first designed and released in 2012 and have been awarded multiple patents.

In 2012 A9 made history by becoming the first ever mass produced 3D printed product with now thousands of units circulating internationally to over fifty countries around the world. The A9 bipeds remain to this day, the only artist manikins that can achieve every pose humanly possible.

WHAT IS THE A9-RIG FOR?

All the A9-RIGS can be used for a variety of things. In fact, over the years I've heard from: Sketch artists that use them to derive proper proportional reference in perspective. Painters use them for light and shadow reference. Sculptors use them to produce quick sculptural studies. Animators use our rigs for stop-motion studies or even short films. Photographers use them as props. Yoga teachers and massage therapists use them as decorative items in their studios. Dance teachers use them as visual aids. Doctors have used them as anatomical reference in their practice. And I've even heard from parents and grandparents that use them as educational tools for their children & grandchildren. A9 is truly the most versatile proportionately accurate manikin on the market.
